J bass & BA II

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Tihi, Aug 31, 2005.

  1. Thinking of changing the origin bridge with a Badass II bridge on my '75 Fender jazz.
What changes will I get? (tonal?, sustain? etc).
Also will I need to shim the neck, or is it enough just to install the new bridge?
All the parts on the bass are origin, so I don't know if that would be a wise decision.

First of all, I don't care for the BA bridge, so I'd say leave it alone.

But for value's sake, it's not a good idea either. Sure you can always put the old bridge back on, but the BA bridge will likely leave a footprint indentation on the finish that will be visible when you put the original bridge back on.
  3. Thank guys, think gonna stick with the old bridge for now
  4. Your bass, in good shape, is worth 3-4 times what it cost new as a vintage item. That will never go down from where it is now if you don't mess with it. You've made the right decision.
