I have a P-bass that has a great sound, but I much prefer the neck of my J-bass and as a result the P-bass gets played little. Does anybody know if a standard J-bass neck fits (without modifying the neck pocket) a P-bass body?
I think it does. I have seen a Marcus Miller Jazz with a P bass neck, so I'm guessing that a J neck fits on a p body. I'm probably completely wrong on this. I'm sure someone has a better answer than me Dan
you would need to know who/where the body and neck were made. if you have a MIM Fender body & neck, it should be just fine. if you have a CIJ Fender body and MIM Fender neck (or any other kind of mix-n-match collection between the two basses), you may need to do a little neck pocket surgery to make them fit all the best, R
I have 2 basses that are P bodies with J necks. There are a few exceptions (like Tele bass necks or some Squire bodies) but they are mostly interchangeable.
Second the Lakland ... This is the USA version the photo thumbnail is from last nites gig ... View attachment 61310 ... A great and very playable combination ...
Thank you guys! and that Lakland... looks interesting too, although I think it'd be cheaper for me to just buy a new neck
yes - BUT will you be as happy? seriously - I know Laklands are VERY expensive overseas....good luck with the conversion and we NEED pics when it is done.....BTW - will it be blocks or dots on the fretboard?
I have a MIM and a MIA P-Bass Special, both have the jazz neck and the P-bass body. Here are pics of each. The black one is the MIA model.
