Cool! Our basses were probably made in the same week. Maybe the same day? :)

So anybody had the chance to compare a Korean vs Chinese JCBs in terms of build and/or sound quality?

Edit: mine it's a Chinese one. It definitely was overpriced for what I got as build quality.

  5. What are the issues with yours? Other than major construction woodwork, most issues are fixable or upgradable at low to moderate cost.

I had to replace the tuners and fix the nut, other than that not any serious issues, as I said, in my opinion the overall quality and feel is not price correct and wonder if it's because of the production that moved to China.
Also I would be curious to see the wood pieces used under that paint.

Anyone get a replacement pick guard for their JC? If so, where did you get it from?

    What’s your plan ?

  12. I recall @fenwickbacker was considering a pearloid pickguard and asked about Pickguard Planet in an earlier post.

Not directly applicable, but I had a very good experience ordering an aged pearloid pickguard for my Stingray Special 5H from Pickguard Planet. Pickguard Planet lists the JCB template on their website.

  13. My Alpine White, which is a few years old now, was also made in Korea.

  15. It's naked! No impedance label, no pickguard. Just a tiny G string!

And the G string is not even in the right spot to cover up the screw hole!
    (Nor the two F holes.)

Impressions? I know most go with these for ease of setup, but I'm more curious if you noticed any chance in tone?

Hard to say, I think maybe a little more middy, which isnt a bad thing as these basses have a strong low end.
Definite difference between 20th Anniv and older orig gold top now. Not sure if there was always a difference or the bridge caused it now.

  19. Hard to say if tone has changed. I've previously installed a Hipshot on an Allen Woody, and the effect was also pretty neutral. For me it is all about set-up convenience.

Agree. I put one on my JCB as well, and didn't really notice any major tone difference.
But it was SO much easier putting the strings back on with the new bridge.
