I am wondering what you mean by "seems like early Weather Report on a bass with frets". Early (pre-Jaco) Weather Report? What recordings does it remind you of?
Also, Jaco often played a fretted with Weather Report. The footage is from '85 and he is clearly not in the best of states.

"Early Weather Report on bass with frets"-

Miroslav Vitous was WR's original (early) bassist...primarily an URB guy, he did play a Fender P-bass...with frets.
    :)

Vitous is going between URB & EB on this early Weather Report thing.
They veer outside quite a bit here...good stuff!

The Dolphin Dance video was toward the end of Jaco's life after his basses were stolen. It is with Jon Davis who Jaco did some of his best playing with toward the end[Standards Zone], and the great Paco Sery on drums from Zawinul's bands and Sixun on drums. I dug all the phases of Weather Report, Miroslav, Alphonso Johnson and Victor Bailey were all brought something special, the Alphonso period is still my favorite though.
