I keep reading about the release of, "Portrait of Jaco: The Early Years". I heard it was supposed to have been released already, that it has been post-poned indefinitely, and FINALLY, that it can be purchased if you go to one of the Jaco websites! So, does anyone know when it can be purchased at say, a Tower Records, or at any number of music stores?(tapping his foot, with scowl on his face:mad: )

Hmmm. Looks like it's been pushed(once again) until June. The reason for the delay is that the record co. wanted to produce a translation of the booklet that accompanies the CD-set for the Japanese fans.

Go to Tower Records and ask them?! :)
    I'm sure you've seen http://www.jacotheearlyyears.com

It seems that they are selling the CD on the web only. More and more great music is been delivered that way.

Well...it finally looks like POJ: The Early Years is available.

www.audiophileimports.com is stocking it for $42?!
    This is a TWO-cd box...maybe it's me-
    $42 seems way high.

I just ordered it from there.

It is $42 bucks, for 2 cds and and 80 page booklet of stuff, and multimedia? I don't know about that, but that's what is said at CDbaby.

I think this is a bit unfair - it's an idependent record company and he seems to have had to do everything - with great expectation resting on his shoulders...:meh:

I'm sure he will only get one chance and wanted to do it right!

Seriously, You gotta give him props, he was one of jacos best friends back then, he's doing this out of love for jaco, and he's certainly put in a lot of time and effort(and money) into this project.

Bruce, isn't CD baby a pleasant service to deal with? :) I ordered my CD and then they send me a very nice letter thanking me for my order and all that, nice service.:)

Yes - they are very reassuring!

I ordered my last holiday off the net and it's a bit unnerving when you get no confirmation - not even an email!! I eventually phoned them and they said that everything was OK and the tickets would arrive 10 days before leaving - but it would have been nice to be told that and not worry that you had to book another holiday with less than 10 days notice!

Everything went well with the holiday - but I'm surprised that I've had no correspondence with the company - apart from getting the tickets. Usually with conventional bookings I get inundnated with questionnaires asking me about the "experience" - I suppose the idea of using the net for bookings is to save money, for the customer and the booking company, so there's no point in them asking?

ive been a jaco fan for years and i can understand wanting to get it right, but just dont go announcing a new release date every year for 7 years. announce its release when it's ready. all the hype and magazine articles which amounted to nothing turned me off from this thing. that with the spendy price of this set means ill be waiting for the eventual used copy on ebay. a few years ago i would have bought it the first day it was released.
