Discussion in 'For Sale: Double Basses' started by Charlie Nilles, Nov 5, 2013.

  1. Friends!
The time has come for me part ways with my Jaquet/Mirecourt bass. It's a lovely instrument and has done very good things for me.

    Anyway, the description:

    -Mid-late 1800's Jaquet/Mirecourt Double bass

-Setup is perfect and ready to go. New neck, fingerboard, and extension done by Robertson & sons.
-Bridge and last fingerboard dressing by John Peterson.
    -41 1/2" String length
-VERY resonant and easiest/freest response I've ever played
-Has "US width" (wider) Laborie end pin hole.

    Upper Bout: 21" Wide, 7 3/4" Deep
    Lower Bout: 27 1/4" Wide, 8 3/8" Deep
Body: 45" Long (46" at top of neck block in the back)
Depth at very bottom: 8 3/4"
    Total length: 72"

    Some pics:
Asking somewhere in the low $40s

Let me know if you have any questions or would like any additional pictures.

What are the dimensions of the bass? Upper/lower bout widths? Depth?
  5. Oh man, I'm so sad to see you're letting this one go. It's an amazing bass! Definitely the best Jacquet I've seen.

BTW, there is no "US-gauge" Laborie pin. We were just getting some really weird pins from our guy back in the day.
  6. Thanks Paul! Gotta make room in the living spaces.
I meant the wider "robertson hole." I remember we had a 50/50 in our studio of the two widths. You'd think that a tapered pin would fit anything, though....
Where in the world are you in the world these days?

Max, I'll get the measurements and more photos up tomorrow afternoon. Any angle requests?

Thanks, Eric. I remember we spoke years ago when I was selling an old Kolstien/Sheridan bass in Chicago. How've you been?
  7. Added some more photos and dimensions in original post.
    Thanks everyone!
  8. Bump for the new year
