With over 25+ cancellations & postponements this year, we managed to squeeze in a few very nice receptions.

Sun Aug 23 @ Nemacolin resort - my Cadillac Jazz Trio doing a hip little cocktail set at Mulligan’s for like 20 guests:

One of my favorite pianists from Pittsburgh - Rick Gallagher and sax man Prof. Jared Sims making jazz noises here. No food shots but we all had the herb grilled salmon / lemon beurre blanc. I don’t know what that means but it was delicious!

Fast forward a few weeks to a double weekend with the Bachelor Boys Band, both outdoor receptions, Fri Sept 18 at Bella Terra winery:

I was very happy 2/3 of the Extra Protection Horn Section was on this gig! I played a bunch of shows with these characters in the Billy Price Band - this is trumpeter Joe “High Tone” Herndon and saxman Rick Matt:

Sat Sept 19 was at a gorgeous private residence complete with storybook decorations and fireworks. The weather was beautiful until it hit about 48 degrees and 9pm, then it was a little chilly:

Plenty of distancing on these gigs. In fact this one was actually a little too far for that ideal audience connection. No worries - this is Diego our fearless band leader / singer / guitarist, and also one heckuva portrait artist checking out the fireworks:

And this is drummer man Woody ... he’s rock solid and a super nice cat. Glad he was on both nights:

And finally, last night my group Cadillac Jazz played at the beautiful Omni Bedford Springs resort.

This is a shot of the hotel, my room, and a view from my room of the tent where we played. Notice the orange cones indicating “rock star” parking for the band vehicles!

I don’t normally like doing ceremonies but I did help with the music on this one.

The trio during cocktails & dinner was my man Rick Gallagher on keys and the very in-demand jazz drummer Chris Lōser from MD / central PA.

And finally, a rocking good time was had by all ... I moonlight as a wedding DJ which helps me afford my jazz snob lifestyle.

Well that’s it for now! I do have a few more on the books for Oct & Nov good lord willin’. Stay safe Yinz guys and keep fighting the good fight!

    Awesome photos!

Glad to see that at least somebody is still workin'. Every booking I had from March forward was cancelled through the end of this year. I remain hopeful for 2021. Yesterday I pulled out my jacket and tie anyway – made me feel a little bit better. :D

nice jason! i envy all the gigging i see in gig reports these days, but yours actually look like the stuff i'd be playing if i wasn't avoiding the curse (except i also play some dirty dives! ). your gigs hit home for me. and super that you have the multiple 'venues' for playing/expression --- i miss that part of it the most!

great pics! your audiences are enjoying the music. it looks like you're all handling the task at hand, and laying it down! thanks for sharing your gig experience!

Thanks guys - yeah we’re really trying to be careful and mask up while moving about and keeping a respectful distance amongst the musicians & guests.

Kudos to the venues & staff for keeping it professional as well. It’s a trying time for everyone so it’s especially important to be kind & patient.

Hopefully as musicians, we can continue to deliver a little extra love & happiness in these challenging times.
