I hear alot about James Jamerson being a great motown session bassist and that he's played on tons of hits, but never see any of the song titles mentioned. So how about recommending some songs to check out.

I think he played on all that Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, early Stevie Wonder etc. stuff.

But I'm sure Jazzbo will be along soon to list every song he ever played on. Jazzbo has a radar, and whenever someone mentions Motown or Jamerson, it goes off...

  3. Why not just search for "James Jamerson hits" on Google?

    Or try here.

Anyway, he also played on a heap of Supremes, Temptations, Miracles and Jr Walker tunes. For songs to check out, go for the Four Top's Bernadette, Stevie Wonder's I Was Made To Love Her or my personal favourite, Jr Walker's Home Cookin'.
