I live just outside of Seattle, and there is a mini-storage that has been converted into jamsheds that are for rent.

We were practicing last night, and all of a sudden my GF comes running in screaming "He's going to kill her, he's going to kill her!"... we were in the middle of a set and couldn't hear her.

Once my lead singer realized what she was saying we ran out there. Sure enough, this guy was beating the living hell out of this girl, and had wrapped his arm around her neck. We're not small guys, and we are used to fighting, but this guy took all six of us to get off of her.

So after the ensuing threats and a few more punches, the cops showed up. My GF works for a non-profit organization that handles battered women, so the cops believed our story.

Now to the funny part... the police officers were all musicians. ;) They were all excited to hear us play so they "escorted" us back to our shed and had us play 5 songs for them. We were all drinking, and a few of us had partaken in the green lovin'... and to play for a bunch of police officers was the coolest thing. I figured we'd all be freaked out and not be able to pull it off.. ;) I think now I can play in front of anyone...

I know the first part wasn't funny... but playing in front of police officers under the influence was. ;)

Not only that, they invited us to their battle of the bands next week! =]
  2. Way to be heroes and rescue the lady! You guys rock just for that.

Awesome for playing for the fellas in blue -- kick ass in the battle of the bands!
  3. Both in the rescue and the jam session. :)

I had heard before, down in North Carolina, that some storage places allow jam sessions. Does anyone know of these places in New Jersey? Especially in Monmouth County?

I'd like to crank the amp when practicing but I couldn't do that to my neighbors. :)

Excellent! This beats the living crap out of that story about the guy who got beat up, and wants to buy a new bass with his dole for "mental anguish."

    Seriously, great job!

Man if I ever saw a man beating a woman.. it would take alot of self control not to kill that man..

Me and my drummer friend were practicing for a 4th of July gig and we were jamming a bunch of led zep tunes. The cops pull up and they start telling us to turn it down then the last cops walks up and says "were you kids just playing led zeppelin?" we said yeah. then we jammed like 4 or 5 tunes for them and then they walked off and said they couldn't here it from their car so we turned it up and got a thumbs up.
