Janky-A Rigs of Doom

The Kitchen Jank ™ has been “upgraded”. I want to play dry in this band for a while, so I don’t need my pedal board, which was the preamp.

Fender Squier or Axl P => bottom-of-the-line mixer => bottom-of-the-line power amp (biamped)/
lows => modern Acoustic 115 => Avatar 210 with blown tweeter and fried ¼ in. inputs (into Speakon input via converter doodad)
mids => 85-lb. vintage Acoustic P.A. 212 cab

I figure the whole thing is about 180 pounds, which is 20 pounds more than I weigh. About 700 watts into a 212, a 210, and a 115. Most of the components are either less than optimal in some way or not intended for bass.

It sounds terrifying. Cranked it puts out more than I can bear with earplugs in. It makes me lightheaded. So I figure it’s about done.

Here is a rig I had to piece together to play a gig at one of our churches. Sonic 2x10 cab + Hartke Kickback 12 + Hartke 1400 head (to power the Sonic cab).

It actually sounded purty darn good; had it corner-loaded and pulled it out a bit as it got reeely boomy in that room.

Here is mine, Kinda like a broke bi amp kinda thing. 2x15 Peavy, Kustom 30 watt 10 inch on top running the highs. Cheap ass rogue head. Sounds nasty and shakes everything in the house. I use a Bass Drive DI into my late 90's korg Multieffects processor, which has stereo out. right out into my 2x15, then the left out into my Big Muff and wah, Then those into the 10 inch. It sounds freaking awesome and i paid 200 for the head and cab.

Hey, I know that Korg pedal ;) It's a Korg ToneWorks AX30G or something close. I still have mine somewhere in my closet. :bassist:

Ok here's my rendition of the Janky-A$$ Rig of doom...

GK Backline 350 Feeding a RS 150 watt RMS 8 Ohm 15" 2-way Radio Shack 35hz to 18khz speaker just rescued from a pawn shop. The Direct Out from the GK feeds the Podium PP1204CA 12" 2 way 25hz to 20khz 300 watt RMS powered speaker. Up on top is the 50 watt Kustom (Powerwerks) practice amp and where I feed the iPod with the music I practice with. What a kluge, but it works!!!
