  6. Come on, it's nice, well priced, and it's white! MIJ/CIJ Fenders are very good for the money.

    Did you go for it?

MIJ are very sweet indeed. Great for making mod's.
If it is a 70's j bass with the pearl block inlays you have to post some images.

I play a Fender Jazz Bass '62 RI CIJ myself.
It's my main bass, and not only because it was a great buy :D

I've replaced the Pickups with a pair of SD SJB-3.

Here's a picture of me and mine:

Let me know, how it goes.

I have a 1994 MIJ Foto Flame Precision with rosewood. It doesn't play as well (to my hands anyway) as my newer Am. Ser. basses, but man it sounds sweet! It comes darned close to a real '60s tone -- woody, deep, soulful, etc. -- and is therefore essential. So if the MIJ Jazzes accomplish the same thing, you're golden.

I had a late 80's MIJ Jazz that sounds very similar to what you're looking at. Mine was blonde with a white pickguard when I bought it, but after I put on a tort guard, the blonde color became an Oly White reissue-looking bass...very strange transformation, but very cool. I have to be honest, that bass sounded and played as good as my all original '75 Jazz...at about 1/4 the cost.
  16. I think the CIJ tag came later than 94.

It's funny with the Japanese stuff, some of the older ones are dogs- cheap instruments made with cheap materials and done cheaply. Then one day they suddenly became good. Not just "good for the price" but actually good. I've got an MIJ Telecaster that rides along side Custom Shop Les Pauls.

No it actually has "made in Japan" on the lower part of the neck by the serial number.

My Sting and my Geddy are CIJ. :)
