That robot looks like it's saying "uh-oh" after accidentally snapping her spine in two.

    Not creepy? That's debatable.

They seem to like robots, though, even Doraemon, their number one cartoon character, is a robot cat.

It's because 90% of people would freak out if there was a collection of wires in a gleaming exoskeleton of steel serving them, so they try to design the look with slightly comic approach.

That was exactly what I was thinking about :D

There's one thing with robots: when they are designed to appear like mechanical humans, people tend to think that they are intelligent creatures, but of course their intelligence is nothing more than a series of pre-programmed routines combined with fuzzy logic to apply it when required. If you want to create a robot that is not scary, make it look like a simple voice-controlled apparatus.

that would rule. I'd give mine vampire teeth, but program him to cry when he sees a kitten.

I'd mount bazookas on his shoulders, and program him to scare people into a corner, at which point he would shoot them with the bazookas. The 'bang' flag would come out of both, and the robot would saunter off laughing a very metallic laugh. Good times.

  17. You stole my idea:spit:

Exept mine had more guns then yours.:p

  18. I would have mine speak in a really thick Scotish accent and insult people all the time.

    Nothin better.:D

    Rock on

  19. Mine would have a built-in metronome, and would dance with it by command.

He could also fly, have eye-lasers, be indestructible, and wedgie those I wished.

And have a ravioli-making machine for a stomach.

Your Japanese robot would have a Scottish accent?
