Took a trip down to Yokohama today to see what's new. Lots of fun, and educational. For those who'd like to see some of the offerings, you can see a few pictures I took.

I'll take the Baccus and the fretless ESP, no trades please.

  11. That fretless SR5 is very nearly my dream bass. I would want it with dual-humbuckers, but MAN is that beautiful. GASing hard now...

  12. Nice pictures!

That Schecter on the left looks excellent! Japan only?

  13. Wow, what a candy store. Those Schecters & the Esp fretless 5 look right tasty. The Sugis remind me of a Cort Roscoe (which ain't a bad thing). Great to see that OLP Tony Levin in a real photo (as opposed to just the OLP website photos). Thanks so much for the pics. Now I'm heavily jonesing for that ESP...

Apparently those Sugi basses were co-designed with the bassist from Toto. I know Sugi makes their own pickups, ash bodies with whatever top, gotoh hardware and passive electronics, there is an active version too, but it's not standard. There's a bolt-on and set-neck version. Clearly, they make customs though.

That ESP is supposed to be a super ergonomic bass, at least in concept. Supposed to rest very well on the knee, not be too heavy, balance well and such. They do have non-fretless, non-semi hollow version for retail, called the Halibut. I have a feeling that one at the show was a one off custom.

How about those Jiraud basses? I've been interested in them for a while.

Man, we wont get those Schecters here, notice the new wider string spacing?, must be Japan only, there's nothing like that in the USA catalog. the ESP fretless is really nice.

What kind of Fender bass is that? Are they selling those in the U.S. yet??

I've got to have one of those!
