Jazz arrangements of pop tunes

Discussion in 'Music [DB]' started by Frank77, Jan 9, 2012.

  1. Hello!

Does any of you have any ideas where I could find jazzy arrangements of pop tunes? More specifically, I'd like to find a jazzy version of The Beatles' "with a little help from my friends", to be played by a double bass & guitar duo (à la Lenny Breau)...any input is welcome!

  4. Your post made me do a google search which led me to these...

    Lenny Breau - Yesterday (1966) - YouTube

    Hard Day's Night Lenny Breau.wmv - YouTube

    which took me here...

Chet Atkins & Paul Yandell - "Beatles Medley" - YouTube

You can do these yourself. Learn the melody and the basic chords, meet up with your buddy and play away. Vary things around a bit and hear where they go.

youtube has an excellent search engine... enter in "jazz cover of with a little help from my friends"...

I don't know how many others would say the same, but I love arranging and think it's great fun. I suppose I'm agreeing with longfinger in this regard. I half expected someone in the forum to just take you up on the challenge and write an arrangement. I'm tempted myself!
