  1. ok. here i was in the first school jazz band practice, when out of nowhere i start to improvise with the drummer. then the horns came in. and that's when the teacher came in. he opened the door and was listening. but then he asked us to do it again, and maybe we could fit in into are set.

rule #1 when you come up with a line. WRITE DOWN THE FREGGIN KEY!

i think it was in Ab. but every one played in D when the teacher wanted to hear! it sound HORRIBLE!

anyway. just wanted to share that with you

  2. Ah..... I know what you mean... I'm in the school jazz band... our teacher often challenges us... to make solo's and improvs off of common songs...

We were doing London Bridge one day....jazzin it up is what we call it...I started walking, drummer was doing some weird "Dixie" like beat, and the horns come in, sax's start playing... everything rocks...

Next day he has us improv off of London Bridge again, he wants us to think of something new....so instead of walking I ran some Blues Scale riff's... basic 12 Bar Progressive...and the drums come in....and than my girlfriend walks in the door, and than everything sounds like crap....

And yea.... I then tried to jump off a tall building, but my school is ghetto and so is my city so there were none to be found ;)
