hello! Have a squier vm jazz bass with upgraded bartollini pickups in them now I've read many great reviews on the dimarzio dp123's and they seem to be the kind of sound I'm after. What I'm wondering is if that in upgrading to dimarzios will there be a large difference worth spending the money on to get compared to the bartollinis?

    Thanks :)

I can't be your ears but I know that I found Bartolini's to be a very pretty and polite pickup, but my Jazz currently has Dimarzio Model J's in it.

If you want a rockier sound with big booty then Model J's are the go. If you want a sweet and round tone with not much snarl then Barts are the go.

I have used both, and they are both good choices. I don't think I would pull out Barts - if you are digging their sound. The DiMarzios too me have more of the "classoc rock" sound, and the Barts more of a "Modern" jaco-est sound.

I honestly don't think you will hear a "huge" difference.

I really would like to achieve a more huge sound with big beefy low end and punch but my barts just seem to be abit weak, I might send dimarzio an email see what they say and ask for an honest opinion as if they just blab about there product I'll just have to base my actions on what people tell me! But so far what I have read, they seem to be what I'm looking for sound wise and the indivually humbucking idea seems to create a huge sound in my mind

I would go with the DiMarzios if you are finding your Barts too weak.
