my new old bass
Babicz & Shaller
Beautiful! What does it weigh?
10 lbs, give or take, right? Lighter than I expected for what I assume is pretty dense wood!
Definitely something different right there.
I'm going to sell this one, because Im working on pair of singlecuts fodera-shape.
But its very difficult to sell this beauty in Russia))))
Buckeye Burl is the opposite of dense wood. It's like cork.
Yup, buckeye burl weighs pretty much nothing because it's rotten, diseased and pitted. Sure it pretty rot. =) That's why typically you only see it as a top covering a much better tonewood. Woods like that are notoriously hard to work with so a full body is a lot of work.
