If it sounds as good as it looks, I’d say it sounds like crap.

It says Fender on the headstock.
    It’s not a Fender.
Some people know the difference, some don’t.
Somewhere down the line someone is going to get ripped off.

I see this dead horse beat often here on tb - in some rare cases it might be applicable but most of the time this is not going to happen. If a consumer is not willing to take the time/effort to research what they are spending their money on - what they buy is the result of not being a savvy consumer. What is criminal are the brand new clones from China that have "Rickenbacker" or Music Man "Stingray" on the headstocks. (and are not advertised as "copies") But some tbr's gladly pay whatever they ask to have that cheap Rickenbacker or Stingray. At least the Tokai "Hard Punchers" that were direct copies of Fender P-basses in the 70's-80's stated it real origin/maker on the hs.

So some kid walks into a pawn shop on a whim and buys this bass because he doesn’t want to miss out on the opportunity t buy a Fender for $300 or whatever and that’s okay?

it doesnt help that the real manufacturers pricing them high enough that the average working slob may never be able to afford one....two-thousand dollars - or even a thousand - may not seem like much to some folks but, to others, thats money they can never ever justify putting in a guitar...it might be the only way some dude can get a Ric....just sayin

People can pay whatever for whatever - the point is the China clones are illegal counterfeits. Pay whatever you pay for one and you are complicit.

Would be funny if it were assembled from super rare Fender parts.

Pretty sure that's one of the lower models... not a Precision. I think that's the "Fender, pretty close" model.

It’s a felony to sell a counterfeit. We went through this very recently on an item that was posted on Craigslist. This item is no longer available on the posted website.

We don't have felonies in Canada. I don't know if selling a fake Fender on Kijiji would net you an indictable offense. Seems more like a summary offense to me but this is all well over my paygrade.

You've just described an impulsive consumer who gets what they deserve.
