I'm purchasing a Special Edition Fender Jazz Bass. Though I'm not new to playing, I'm new to bass parts and such. I would like to know how Seymour Duncan jazz bassline pickups compare to any other bass pickup or how Hipshot tuners stand against any other generic tuner.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Why Don't you just play the bass and see how you like it, find out what you like and don't like. Changing the pup (any brand) may not make the bass sound any better just different.

I believe it is the Jazz 24 you are talking about. I had a very bad experience with that bass. Either I had a lemon, or I just could not get a good sound out of it. I was very disappointed in the sound. My passive Classic 60's jazz sounded 100 times better.

As far as the tuners, you should have no problem with them. Hipshot makes a good product. My only beef with them, they look funny (on the back side of the headstock). I guess I am too used to the big vintage type Fender tuners!

If you are talking about the Jazz Bass 24, I have one and love it.
