Hi everybody, I'm of course a newbie and im thinking of getting a jazz bass but I heard of people putting a jazz pickup by the bridge on the P basses. Now an idea came up, would it be worth it to put a P pickup inbetween the J pickups?'

    Thx

If you can live with the looks, go for it. It does look a bit odd with so many pickups and it can mean knob overload unless you use stacked pots but the tonal versitilty on offer is unmatchable.

No. Part of the magic of the P-Bass is where that pickup is located. There is a strong harmonic dead above the pole pieces of the rear piece of the split on a well setup P. That is the sweet spot and you won't get there in between the J pickups.
