'Jazz Bass Pickup Wiring'

    Not afraid of dropping the pickups in myself since my bass tech is backed up. But a little confused on the wiring. Pickups have three wires. White is hot, black coated wire, Is Ground. But there is also a bare wire as well. Confusing because I don't know what to do with the bare wire. Using a John East Preamp.

    Bare wire is always ground.

    Likely magnets are grounded with the bare wire so they don’t pop when you touch them.
  4. Three conductor pickups have a ground wire separate from the coil. As mentioned, any bare wire on any pickup is always a ground.
