I just spent £350 on a fender jazz bass. It played perfectly fine and sounded great. But yesterday I dropped it on the floor and now the lowest 2 strings, particularly the second lowest sound a bit muted have almost no sustain :(. The second one is also probably a bit quieter than it should be. I'm pretty much a beginner so I don't really know what could be wrong. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and if there's anything I can do about it?

  2. OUCH!

I'm no expert, but the first two things that come to mind are:

1.) You may have damaged/broken the nut
2.) You may have damaged the bridge

Can you see any cracks anywhere on the body or neck?

Others that know much more than I will be along shortly.

I hope it's not an expensive problem for you.

    Good luck.

    Mike ;)
