This is another one of your typical "I'm not really sure if I want to get rid of this, but it doesn't get played much and it's too good to just sit around" classified ads. I built this bass over the summer with the intention of having a great "vintage" Jazz Bass in my collection, should I need that sound. While I do love this bass, I find that I just favor my P basses much more. Here are some details: The body is alder and was finished in poly when I got it. It was fully stripped and refinished using Reranch nitro products (sand & sealer, primer, Shoreline Gold, and clear), and then relic'd by yours truly. I'm unsure of the neck's origins, but the shape/contour is proper Jazz size. I added the correct '62 decal (to match the neck plate s/n- 72583), reverse tuners, nitro finish, and added the relic treatment here as well. The pickups are Fender Custom Shop 60s Jazz Bass single coils hooked up to CTS 250K pots, NOS .05 ceramic disc cap, Switchcraft jack, and cloth wiring. The pickguard is aged mint/black/mint. All metal & plastic parts have been aged/relic'd by me, except the chrome pickup cover (which is new) and the nickel Dunlop straplock strap buttons. The bass is currently strung up with a fresh set of D'Addario Chromes (.045-.100). *** I don't have an accurate weight at the moment. It's not a featherweight, but it's not at all heavy either. I'd guess it comes in right around 9 or 9.5 lbs. I'm asking $795/shipped OBO (Cincinnati area pickup would be cheaper), which doesn't include a case (though I will include an unused acoustic bass gig bag just for a little extra protection during shipping. As far as trades go, just run them by me. I'm into vintage/strange/project type guitars, basses, amps, effects, etc., as well as cool bass or guitar parts (bisonic pickups, Rick pickups, T-40 pickups, 8 string neck/body, etc.). I'm not a fan of 5 or 6 string basses.
The bass was made at my house. The body (I believe) was a Fender product, though I'm not 100% certain. And as I mentioned in the ad, I don't know about the origins of the neck, but it's pretty old & feels like a Jazz neck should feel (i.e., not thin like a Geddy or Marcus neck, but also not chunky).
