Does anyone know of a precision shaped body, loaded with 2 jazz pickups? I really don't like the look of the jazz body, but I really like the tone. Does fender make any such thing? Does anyone else, besides custom builders?

Carvin's B40 sounds like what you're looking for.
  3. Hmm. Check out the Blacktop Precison bass. Not EXACTLY what you're looking for, but it's a start.

Yep, I don't know if you can hit it any more directly than that.

I'm sure warmoth.com can hook you up. (satisfied customer myself)

Squier made a 5 string like that from 1997-2003, approximately.
  8. arent there a few versions of the P bass special that do this?

    +1 with the Carvin B40/B50

You can also get these in a kit from them. These are the exact same pieces they use on their regular builds, you just have to do the finish work and assembly, but it can save you some bucks in case money is tight.

I think Warmoth could do it as well but I've never built a guitar or bass by Warmoth. Me I'm pretty happy with my Carvin experiences.

  12. Definitely

    Definitely Banned

    I've got a B40, awesome bass. +100000 for that.

Funny enough I prefer the offset body to my B40, but I didn't have funds for a Sekou.

I'd choose the G&L over the Carvin B40 simply because the horns on the B40 look too...penile :bag:

Edit: How about the Carvin LB20?

From the names being thrown around in this thread, this is not what you are really after, but what the heck. SX made one... in a fiver (back row second from left, you can't see the whole body but you can tell what it is from what's visible)

I believe Fender Japan made a P-body/J-pickups bass back in the 80s ... Jazz Bass Special?? I couldn't find any objective evidence on the web, though. Only the usual P/J pickup config.....
  18. Let me guess, blue is your favorite color. :smug:
