I have a 70's (I think - may be 60's) Precision bass with Bartolini's that puts out great tone. The neck is too big for me and I'm considering installing a Jazz neck on it. Do any of you know if a Jazz neck will fit exactly on the body? It's a 4 hole body. The neck I want is a rosewood with binding and rectangular inserts.

    Thx, Tony

if the neck opening on the bass is 2 1/2 inches wide, ur good to go

That is a pretty common mod so you should be OK.

  5. I have had a '72j neck on a '65p for 30+ yrs. Works great. I think there is a skinny "A" style p neck that is more like a 1.5 j. I don't know if the dimensions are exactly the same though. Someone here will know. Watch. 1, 2, 3...

Intune is correct. I have a '78 p bass maple neck that is 1.5 Doesn't feel like a J neck. It really feels like a skinn p neck...go figure...

My 79 P has the skinny "A" neck. It will go to the grave with me.
