Jazz or Blues in notation

    hey guys i was wondering if anyone could reccomend me some books or sites online that could give me some jazz or blues in standard notation(looking for more intermediate type stuff). Also could u recomend me some players whose music i shoud check out for this type of music.

    Well, as far as sites go, try this.

    Not really bass specific, however the chords are listed so you can try creating various lines to go over the changes with. I highly reccomend attempting to transcribe some jazz 'n blues on your own. Very valuable if you are just starting out in these two genres.

    As for players, there are so many to choose from. Some you may want to check out are:

    Charles Mingus, Tommy Shannon (w/ Stevie Ray Vaughan,) Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers (many different bassists.....my favorite is Reggie Workman from the Caravan album,) Junior Wells, Charlie Parker, etc. The list could go on and on.
