I have a MIM Jazz stock as a rock.I would like little more sustain and the Geddy Lee growl, who doesn't>Will SD antiquities or Fender custom shop pups put me on the right track? What about aa Bad ss 2 or would string through body be bettr?Whady think.
Just about any bridge upgrade you do will give you more sustain, assuming you get a bridge with more mass than the current one (that's not hard.) The BadAss II is a standard for replacement bridges; I put in a Gotoh 201 on my MIM Jazz and am very happy with it. As for the pickups, I don't know. I still have the stock p/u's in mine, but I plan on putting some DiMarzio's by Christmas. Good luck!
Badass2 rocks, but you have to file the slots, I'd go with the Gotoh 201 just cause I'm lazy and don't want to file the Badass2 again. I'd rather let a machine do it perfect for me. Seriously. Dimarzio DP123's Model J's rock. Geddy rocks. It's like I figured out which basses to get based on his choices through the years. The obligatory bass pic: Chris
