Jazz volume problem, Help!

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Will_J, Mar 16, 2008.

  1. Ok, i have a highway 1 american jazz bass

    about 1 year old

i researched it a bit, and i know it has 2 volumes (1 for each pickup, and 1 tone)

But the volume for the bridge pickup doesn't seem to be doing much/working at all.

When my amp is loud, the volume seems to be working the tiniest little bit, but obviously not enough

i looked inside the working, and no wires are loose, all perfect.

    What could be the problem?

    Help!

Need a bit more info ...

If you turn the bridge all the way off and the neck all the way up and vise versa do they both work?

;) ... That will tell ya if the are actually workin right there.

  3. When i turn the neck right up, and bridge up, it works

when i turn the bridge off, it sounds the same

when i turn the bridge and neck off, there is no sound, when i keep the neck off, and bridge on, there is no suond..

    There is your answer ...

On every Jazz I have they are totally independent volume controls

:meh: ... Need to have it looked at.

Before you do anything rash, consider that one might be a volume knob for both pickups and the other a dynamic selection knob that picks what pickup is being used.

Maybe so but every HWY 1 I have had was the stock VVT

    Still anything is possible ...

;) ... Any instrument tech should be able to check that

  7. Well the warranty was still valid, so i've sent it back and hopefully it will get fixed :)

    Thanks for all your help!
