Thought a few of you might be interested in my latest project. This is about 2/3's done but you should get the gist.

  2. Nice, Can't wait to see the finished product.

Looks like Bert Lahr AFTER he got his courage...

Could be Charles Bronson with the right 'stache...

    Just kidding, Jeff. Beautiful work.

Is this targeted for a particular bass?

Lookin' good, Jeff. What's the process; do you do it in clay first, work from drawings?

I got back into this after some health and holiday issues. Just started on the hair a few days ago.

    and.

Ray-it's just for my next bass. Got it stuck in my craw that I had to make a lion head in this life.
Marcus-no clay or anything, just cut away what doesn't look like a lion. Strictly seat of the pants here.

Hey Jeff, continuing to look great.

I find the second pic (the closeup) interesting. I'm looking at his left nostril and I see what appears to be an ideally placed little grain flare there. Does it actually outline a nostril shape? Tres cool.

Looks like the feline is getting some nice Romanesque hair.

Nice work. Also checked out your website. I like the recent new bass you posted there. That particular, high roundness of the bouts and outward pointing corners remind me of Stradivarius though. Very well done in that regard. Any other attempt I've seen at a "Strad" bass either looks nothing like a Strad or else looks like an oversized cello. Any reason you leaned toward that particular style?
