    I've always been a fan.

My apologies if this has been posted before or if is in the wrong forum.

Nice. I've always liked John Lodge, and felt as though he was under-appreciated.

Interesting that he no longer uses his 60's jazz bass on tour, but using current Fender reissues of 60's basses. Very surprised when he pulled out a carlo robelli 12 string bass, but said he doesn't use it in the shows yet.

A HUGE +1 on that comment!

Years ago, I was speaking to (I'll just say, a very knowledgeable lady), over at Alembic. :ninja:

I was looking to have Alembic electronics & pickups made for a special application.

After getting a brief history on Alembic pickups & electronics, I was asked what type of tone was I looking for? I said how I loved the tone John Lodge gets out of his Fenders.
She laughed and said, he plays FENDER basses, but we made most of the electronics and pickups for those basses!
"Fender was his sponsor, but Alembic made the pickups & electronics in those basses". :bassist

TRUE STORY, for what its worth. I thought that was pretty cool!

I know John used Alembic during one of their tours. "Other Side Of Life" maybe? I'll have to dig out my programs from concerts of future passed!

Not under appreciated by me. I play bass/sing in a Moody Blues tribute band, his bass parts are awesome!

  8. we have seen that very bass (or anyway, an Alembic exactly like that, which was owned and played by John Lodge.)

my son actually was allowed to play it for 10-15 minutes.

it was for sale at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville for @ 20,000.00...:D

needless to say, he was VERY careful with it.

  13. Nice one. I still get goose bumps from Hayward's guitar parts on Lovely.
