Hello, I have a rather specific question. I even made an account just to ask this. But my question is based on the use of using your ring finger on your plucking hand to mute. I first noticed Thundercat doing it, then I saw John Patitucci, then Bubby Lewis. I asked Bubby about it through his Instagram, and he said he picked it up from John Pattitucci's instructional tape, and I've been looking for the clip for a while now. Can somebody help me find the clip, or even explain it from the video themselves? Thanks for any help :)

Hi - sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but did you find the tape/recording?

I rest my ring finger on A-string when playing G-string with anchored thumb on E-string. Keeps the A from ringing. But I only use it when I just visit the G-string and have my anchor on E.

For faster passages I tend to hop my anchor over to A or even D for 16ths on G.

For floating thumb this obviously does not apply.
