To be fair, I keep checking out his videos. 15 seconds is all I can take.

I keep thinking that I’m watching an old SNL Eddie Murphy sketch.

One of those ones that Eddie did not realize the sketch wasn't funny, and kept going hoping it would get better.

Always enjoyed his videos. My favorite is when he played an Alembic.

Ooof.... this was a tough watch. I appreciate his enthusiasm, but the dude needs to get to the point! He's trying too hard to be silly IMO, it's a little much.... (says the guy with the lobster hand)

I have watched enough Johnny Long videos that I have tuned out his silliness and focused on his information and playing because he is a very knowledgeable repairman/luthier. He is a fine player too.

i'm not surprised in the least that he's impressed with harley benton --- once he had a setup for himself. i've never owned one, but lots of folks endorse their value as players.

First time seeing this guy. I thought it was a solid review actually. He had some really good stuff to say.

I think his reviews are great and he's a character for sure, but yeah, they take too long to cover the topic. Like Crimson Guitars, great work and excellent information, but it's like watching a video of a sloth watching paint dry...

    Hi Doc :)

    I'll try to be honest.

He is not is not serious enough!

    Okay I tried! :roflmao:

    I love his silliness! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

    But that's just me! :D

Not surprised that he gives the Harley Benton a good rewiew

They are nice gigable basses once they are set up (even their cheapest models!)

And the qualitiy is amazing for the price!

    greetings

12 more than me. I don’t find anything amusing about playing the fool in a desperate bid for attention.

I love Johnny Long's videos. He's such an ebullient character and easily the happiest dude on the Internet. I get that he comes across as an ADHD guy who needs to switch to decaf, but that's what I like about him.

I have ADD myself so sitting still for more than 5 minutes for a YouTube video is not something I can do. However, I can actually watch Johnny Long's 12 minute videos in their entirety because he's not boring, he keeps me engaged the whole time, and I just feel his over-the-top personality oozing out of the screen.

And the dude has crazy skills. He could take a bass made out of dried elephant turds and work his sorcery on it to make it sound pro.

    Johnny Long is the MAN!!

"I like it. I LIKE IT A LOT!!!"

I know Johnny from selling/trading Ken Smith basses with him back in the early 2000's. He is a good guy. I am not much on his recent video's but hey if you like a lot of silly talk enjoy.

Of course. It means "this is an impressive example of a well made, low budget bass. I am pleased."

Shadakaka! Love this dude and his videos. If I want to watch straight gear demos, I do. If I want flair, I Shadakaka.

  20. I like Johnny's videos.

He can play,he sure knows his stuff. He also highlights gear that's affordable.

Had the good fortune to own the 4 string version of that Harley Benton. 6 years back they sold for £216 :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:
Unbelievable bit of kit, only thing which came close was the Vintage V1000 series, the Vintage was £80 more.

Surprised Johnny never played the bass in both active and passive mode, volume knob is push/pull.
