Shadows and Light is Joni Mitchell's 1980 double live album, recorded at the Santa Barbara County Bowl in September 1979 on the Mingus tour. The concert film was also released on VHS and DVD.

    • Joni Mitchell - electric guitar, vocals
    • Pat Metheny - lead guitar
    • Jaco Pastorius - bass
    • Don Alias - drums
    • Lyle Mays - keyboards
    • Michael Brecker - saxophone
    • The Persuasions - backing vocals on "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" & "Shadows and Light"

I have this on DVD. It's a wonderful concert. Jaco shines on this one. And as usual, Joni is phenomenal. Pat Metheny isn't too shabby either. I like it when they're both on stage with their natural wood colored guitars. Nice visual.

At the mere mention of this concert I instantly got the first band tune, "In France they kiss on Main Street" stuck in my head (which is a great thing).

Agreed! And I see in my head Jaco making that wincing look with his eyes as he plays that tune.
