...for a job, not as a student. Which means I probably have about a 1% chance of getting it compared to the 5% or whatever the acceptance rate is for becoming a student there. Still, here's hoping.

I've been adjuncting (hired per-course, for beans) for the last couple of years; this would be a one-year post (College Fellow in History) with an actual salary, and renewable for a second year. That, and the opportunity to relaunch research projects, would make it a huge career help - not to mention just having the Harvard name on my resume.

    Wish me luck!
  2. that would be an awesome gig. I'd love to have you as a professor, Robert.

    All the best

    Best of luck!

The job market for prof positions is crazy. Scares me (first year of grad school).

Best of luck man. Both my wife and I have tried our hands at academia. It's a tough go unless you can catch a break like that. Good vibes in your direction!

Feel free to use all us TBOT guys as references. Heck, you could even print this thread and show them how we think it's a great idea to hire you. :D

If Harvard says no, you can always head up 89 and try Dartmouth.

Innocent question: is that 5% of students acceptant base on how much $$$$ the parents student have? Tell me how much you have and I will tell you how smart you are . Anyway, to the OP I hope that you can get the job.

Great school. I have several friends that graduated from Harvard. All worked their butts off in high school, no silver spoon whatsoever. One was first in her HMBA class. 15 - 20 years later all of them making 500-1M+ per year.

Say what you want, it's a darn fine institution.
