Just bought my dream bass- a Shergold!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Fassa Albrecht, Aug 16, 2007.

  1. I've finally done it! I've actually found a Shergold Marathon, and an original Mk 1 too! It's like a dream.....
It's a defret job, 4 string (I wanted 6) but I'm happy. I'll post pics when I actually receive the thing.

PS Shergolds are very difficult to get hold of, and it's even harder to get hold of the Mk 1s.

    Still gonna get it refretted?
  3. C'mon man. No pics, no bass.
  4. I'll see what the sound is like without frets and also whether I can play a fretless first, then decide.

Earwigger I'm a Roland man now.

Those are the ones with the interchangeable effects bays right? If so, did you get any of those as well? I know these things are rare and the effects modules are even rarer.

You did see the part where she said she didn't have it yet, right? You're right...no pics, no bass...because there is no bass yet!
  7. AHAHAHHA no I didn't read that. lol. Don't I feel stupid :ninja:

    Since you wanted a 6, can I assume you're a Hooky fan?

No, the Marathon has a single P/U with simple volume and tone controls, though the early versions had a stereo out. What you are describing is a Modulator bass.

If you do get it refretted it won't be quite to factory specs, because the previous owner removed the zero fret and had to fit an extra wide nut to compensate.
  16. Wow, that's quite nice.
  17. beautiful bass! congrats!!

    Oh yeah! :)

I thought that I recognised that body shape from somewhere :smug: .

(I hope for Fassa's sake that it's not as heavy as a Wal :p ).
  19. Shergold's designs are among the best looking ones ever, in my book. Can't wait for more pictures.

  20. Yep! I love Hooky and New Order, and it is Peter Hook who got me into bass.
