    Hey guys,
I after years of being a mediocre guitar player, I have decided to wander to the dark side.

I just picked up a MIJ Fender jazz, Excellent shape for a fair price.

The help I need is in the Identification dept. It says MIJ on the headstock, Serial number starts A0.

    So from the Fender site:

    A + 6 DIGITS 1985-1986
    or
    Crafted in Japan A + 6 DIGITS 1997-1998

Should I interpet "Crafted in Japan" as meaning it would read Crafted, instead of Made?

Also anyone know what model it is or have any specs, particularly on the pups?

The pickguard has holes for the pickup cover and the rest that is below the G string, There are no holes in the wood though, so Ill assume it never had them.

It looks to be the 1980's MIJ rather than a CIJ.

MIJ on the headstock was for the most part 1980's and early 1990's...The "Made in Japan" then migrated off of the headstock and to the back of the neck.

Later, they switched to "crafted in Japan" for basses, most of which were intended for the Japanese market.

    As usual, IIRC.
