So I call GC about a used G&L L2000 they have. I was wondering if the neck was 1 3/4 or 1 1/2 so he put me on hold. Then he comes back and says "We dont have anything to measure right now but it looks like all the other Fender basses"

Gee, you look like a human but are you the same as that guy because you look "similar"?

He said the guys that does the setups has all the measuring tools. Dude was just not knowledgeable and just lazy.

Ugh. Probably still going to buy it anyway :hyper:

    whadda ya expect, its GC
  3. Really. As an experienced player, you should be able to pick up a bass, wrap your hand around the neck, and describe whether it has a P-Bass/J-Bass feel to give a basic description of it. There's a lot of beings on this earth that just don't have any common sense, for sure.

you should be able to look at it and tell if it's 1.75 immediately

Tell him to hold it up next to a P, and then a J and ask him which it looks more like.

But, would you really trust him ??? :rollno:

I actually just ordered it. It was at the Cerritos store. They have a G&L ASAT Bass for 550. Damn good deal since these dont come in Tribute models...

The few ASAT basses I've seen have a 1.5" nut.

Even if a ruler would have been on hand, do you really think the sales person could have read it?

Playing devil's advocate, why didn't you look it up yourself at the G & L web site instead of going through that time wasting exercise?

Because it's G&L - it has options. You can order an L2000 with either nut width.

You can order a number of different necks from 'em, so that doesn't work. It could be either of the options he listed (and more, actually).

    From the G&L Site:

    G&L Vintage "C"
    1 3/4"
    7 1/2"

    G&L Vintage Narrow "C"
    1 1/2"
    7 1/2"

I assume its the 1.75 nut because that comes standard with the L2000 basses but since it is an older model I am hoping that it has the smaller Jazz style (#6) neck. I will know in a few days.

My old '86 G&L L2000 had the wider nut.
