Alembic Series I: I didn't custom order this, but the original owner did. It's Walnut top and back with Mandolin frets on an Ebony fingerboard. Has red side LEDs and the Omega cutout.

Alembic Mark King Deluxe: Coco Bolo top and back. I ordered it with a Series II electronics package, amber side LEDs, gold Mother of Pearl inlays, and continuous wood backplates instead of the standard brass backplates. Cost a lot less than just ordering a stock Series II. Alembic has long since closed that loophole.

Roscoe LG-3005 fretless: Spanish Cedar body with Flame Maple top and Tobacco Burst finish. Unlined Ebony fingerboard. Bartolini pickups and preamp.

Marchlewski 5-String: Built by Jacob Marchlewski from a design by TBer Wolfehollow

Maple body and neck with Amboyna Burl top and back, Birdseye Maple fingerboard and pickguard, Bloodwood neck stringers, Adjust-a-Nut, neck binding. Originally had an 18V Bartolini circuit, but the batteries kept getting super hot, so I had Jacob replace it with a 9V Bart circuit. It also started life with Mandolin frets. Had to get it refretted last year to clear up some neck issues and I switched to Medium fretwire.

Was actually quite a bit less than the $3K threshold of this thread, but it was such a cool build project, I had to sneak it in.

This is the best bass-porn thread ever!

  6. Luckily, I have a picture to explain such things! ;)

Love those Eshembeaux (for the life of me, I can't figure out how to spell this...) basses! That's some crazy sweet figure on the top too

I don't think so...it may have moved on to a 3rd owner though, I'm not sure.

Marchelewski was hot for a quick second. I was interested in his work and then he must have quit.

    Amazing basses !!!

There's something about that spalted (maple?) wood on the bottom one that reminds me of ancient Japanese art work (bamboo and ink drawings), or maybe carved ivory :).

Anyway, special basses from a special builder :smug:.
