  1. I'll skip all the nitty gritty details. But here's what I'm working with....

I thought I was going to have 3 more months before my first gig, but I just found out today, that it is going to be in 3 weeks.....:meh: I was planning on getting something bigger but right now I don't really have the time(or the permission) to get something else. :crying:

I have an 08 MIM Jazz, Sansamp BDDI, Backline 600 (300w) an Avatar (212 500w 4ohm) and an Ampeg BA115(100w). I was wanting to know how to get the most out of my setup, or what you would do in this situation. What I was thinking was JBass--->Sansamp--->A/B or Y splitter?--> into the GK and Ampeg. Can I get away with this setup or am I just gonna have to go against my wife and get a bigger head that will go down to 2ohms and get an Avatar 410 or 212?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

you definitely have sufficient gear. Hit the Sansamp first and then send an unaffected signal to the amp. You'll be good. Have fun.

  3. We play alot of different kinds of music, RHCP, Weezer, CCR, Black Sabbath, Sublime, a couple originals, some drunken bar tunes, 70's classics and 80's top 40 hits. So I feel like we cover alot of different kinds of music, so tone is not all I'm thinking about. If it was I would probably be running a Big Block 750 and a Berg.

  4. Will you have PA support? I've played decent sized venues with less. You should be fine with the GK and 212. Thats a decent amount of air volume if you can mic it.

  5. We were trying to get a PA system before we did our first gig but I doubt that is going to happen now. Since this came up my guitarist is wanting to get a bigger rig now, so he probably doesn't want to put the $$$ into getting a PA since he'll be heard no matter what.

  6. +1 to that.
Keep it simple. The last thing you want on your first gig is a confusing amp setup.
I recently supported a band where the bassist was using a GK 600 Backline as his rig (against a LOUD drummer)- and they were on a top name band on a national tour.

  7. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what do you mean by "unaffected signal"? I thought that would be straight from my bass to the amp? I always play with my Sansamp so I get a little thicker sound out of my GK-->212.

  8. He thought you would be playing through a PA and was talking about sending a signal straight to the desk (I assume)
