Just got a new bass!

  1. It's a Karl Knilling Bucharest fully carved flatback 3/4 made in Romanian, serial near 10000. Ebony fingerboard, adjustable bridge, sounds so good. Got lots of scratches, and it may have even gotten a few on the ride home as it barely fit in the car!

Sal Giardina in New Orleans glued the top and slapped some Spirocores on it and it is a real thumper. He says he's jealous for the price I got. Sound clips and some more pics when I get the apartment to myself. I haven't played in about four years, but I pulled out John Patitucci's '60 Melodic Etudes' today and I can't wait to start hitting the Aebersold playalongs again.

I don't know about yours, but my bass is named Mistress. My basses will probably always be named Mistress.

Beautiful it's on my bucket list for sure.

  11. Thanks, Ya'll. I believe a fine instrument's name is the first one that comes to mind, though I try very hard to not fantasize about baby naming until I'm in the right mood. No name for her yet. I got asked for two gigs already, but I had to turn em down cause my chops are not quite show-worthy yet. I told em to gimme a couple weeks or we'll be playing in flat keys, lol. I need a new pickup too, because my old K&K Bass Max that I put on her yesterday must have a smashed piezo element :(

  12. UPDATE!!!

    Her name is 'Elisabeta'.
