No, this isn't a tribute thread to Bryan Adams. I just purchased a Spector Legend Classic 6, bubinga finish. Taking it to my bass lesson tonight. Looking forward to getting used to it and taking full advantage of it. Thanks to everyone who helped me with the selection.

I got my first real six-string
    Bought it at the five-and-dime
    Played 'til my fingers bled
    It was summer of '69

Have fun! Once I started playing a 6 string I never went back. I played a 5 string version of yours and wasn't happy with the tone BUT I was also comparing it to my Roscoe so for your 1st 6 string it'll do you just fine.
  8. 'Cause once you go six,
    You never go back!

    (Wait....that doesn't rhyme......) :smug:

Cool news, man. You're going to have to bring that one when we schedule another ATL GTG.

Absolutely! Can't wait. Looking forward to bringing something worth while, as opposed to last GTG.
Pics will come tomorrow night. I'm gonna borrow/steal a camera from work.

    I have quite a few questions, but I'll only ask one for now;

In my current band, we have a few songs that are in drop D tuning. I'm used to playing 4 string and detuning my E.
What's the best way to go about this on the 6 string?

    Once you go six
    You get all the chix!

When I was in that situation I played the D off the low B. Saves time on detuning and makes proper use of the B string.

I recently got my first 6 string and I dig it. However, I got a new Spector 4 string recently as well that sees a lot of play time!

Cool. Makes sense. Suppose it'll just take some getting used to, as with everything on this monster.

    Next question... strings.
I don't recall ever really seeing a set of 6 strings for sale. Are they out there and what are some decent, affordable sets?

Dude, you're in ATL, go to any GC. Marietta, North Druid, Pleasant Hill. I've gotten them at every one of those stores. I tend to grab D'Adarrio's but really like Ken Smiths. Those are harder to come by. As for affordable, you didn't buy a 6 string for affordable string sets did you? LOL
