Okay I tried out the MKIII last night and wow the low on that thang. Beautiful!!! Loud strong ....
Question is there a way to defeat the limiter ? I maybe had the Master up too high (full on)
I am tryin to get more sizzle and the limiter seems to kick in when I snap and pop. What setting for a nice bright Pop and snap sound? last night I just ran the amp flat. Brought the Amp Bag from GC (free shipping 59.99) Hope it get here soon . Don't want to take the amp out again with with no coat...

    Peace out, all

Nope, you have to back off it to get rid of the limiting. Your band must be deafening because that gets pretty loud ;)

  7. You had the master all the way up:eek: That is user error.

Set your input gain optimally (i.e., just before the clip light comes on), and then use the master to adjust your volume (the useable range of the master is to about 1 o'clock with the input gain set right). As with any amp, it is key to not allow the input gain to clip on those loud snap and pop transients. Thump your open E string as hard as you ever would, and make sure the input gain is set so that the clip light never comes on. That is typically betweet 10 and noon for most basses and playing techniques, but could be lower if you really pound with the slap technique.

If you then hear power amp limiting, you need more than a 500 watt amp (assuming you are running into two 8ohm cabs or a large 4ohm cab). That all being said, though, there are enough of these 'limiting' comments on the LMIII (this rarely if ever came up as an issue on the LMII), that it seems something in that new limiter design might not be optimal at this point.

KJung, weren't there users who were complaining about the limiting on the II and then saying that it was "fixed" ( I know, I know ) on the III? This whole limiting thing is just a joke. These are killer amps, and just need to be used correctly.

Ya, really. You have to be playing insanely loud to even approach the limiter. I've done it once...at home when nobody else was there, I cranked the bejabbers out of it into an 810. There's no way I could ever play that loud in a band, no matter who it is. I think the whole limiter thing is a total non-issue. If you need more than an LMII that hits the limiter, you shouldn't be buying an LMII or III in the first place.

I think you might be missing the point, at least for some of us.
Its not the power amp I seem to get the limiting from, its the
preamp section. The limiting happens easily when I pull the
    G string aggressively. (not abusively)
I know that my old RB800 hasn't got the wattage the LMII has
but I don't get the limiting till I reach the power amps limit.
Same on my Focus 1. My issue hasn't been about volume.

    Well that's easily fixed.

Well... I just got some education.
It would seem that using my active basses, with the preamp
at 10:00, I just may have been overdriving the input on the
top end. I've just never owned an amp with such a sensitive
input. (maybe the MB500) Sorry if I've confused anyone.
