My drummer called me today, the guitar player in our little blues power trio went out partying with his former band mates. He passed out on the bass player's couch, and he didn't wake up. They are going to do the autopsy on Monday. He just lost his wife to cancer 5 weeks ago. He seemed to be doing much better in the last couple of weeks. He's been taking care of the business they ran and was practicing the new tunes we were learning. I suppose we'll never know if he really wanted to do it or if it was an accident.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's never easy to lose a friend, especially like that. Hopefully he's happier now.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

It seems like you've lost more than a good gig, but a good friend too.

Like I always say when someone dies:

Remember: Do not mourn their death, but celebrate their life.

It was the second marriage for both of them, they each had children, but none of the children lived with them. His kids are in Florida with his ex, and her kids were already out of the nest.

Well that is a very small blessing, but sad none the less.
