I just ordered a little mini bass (Corsair MCR-1) for my first grandson who just turned one. Is this crazy, or anyone else out there done something similar? I'm 58 but only been playing for 2 and a half years. At this stage in my life, I have come to realize this is my one and only regret: not getting started when I was younger. Unfortunately growing up, no one I knew played or was in a band- so I just never had the exposure or inspiration. So my hope is that when I retire (or semi-retire) in a few years, I will have an expanded music room so that when the little ones come to visit, they will have a few cool toys to pick up. I will certainly not force anything on them- maybe they will be interested, maybe they won't but I would love to be that inspiration for them that I never had. I realize I am jumping the gun on this by several years, but I'm a new grand father and really wanted something decent but in a small package that kids could enjoy. I play exclusively short scales, but was looking for an even smaller product. Under $200, the Corsair seems to be decent choice- and not sure what something similar might cost in several years, so went ahead and pulled the trigger. Just curious if anyone else has done something similar, and were you eventually able to get your kids or grand kids interested?
I'm gonna try that on my wife. "Baby, I'm gonna buy a new bass for my grandkids. Yes, I realize our kids are only 8 and 10. But I want to have time to break it in."
He’ll probably love it. May take a while for his arms to grow. But that’s a cool thing to look forward to.
Every time this little dude plays Zeppelin's - Whole Lotta Love, it really wears him out. Tell your grandson that ejaggers says, "Rock On!!!" 057912
