I received this last week-so far, so good. The bass is lightweight and plays wonderfully. I replaced the Zon gig bag and rewired the pickup pan control for traditional operation. I'm sold on graphite necks for stability and feel. The only drawback (Zon and Modulus), IMO, is that the tone can sound compressed when compaired to high-end wood-necked basses. I'd score this one 4.5 out of 5.

That's quite a family you have there. Very very nice!!! I really liked my Zon but alas GAS got the best of me and now she's gone. I would like to someday have another one. I know all about that tight GAS cap!!!!!

That compression is one of the things I really like about my Zon, it makes it sit in the mix really nicely, and allows me to get some fingerstyle dig-in spank without getting too loud.

Thats a great lookin group of basses you got there. Weren't you selling the smith 5?

I never would have bet that you would pick up another Zon. Perhaps the preamp issue is settled this time....? I've got issues with Zon myself, but I have to admit, there have been a couple 519's that have tempted me. ;)

If nothing else, the quilt is outrageous!!

The last/first Zon I had was tops in every category except tone. IMO, the problem was the pickup placement and preamp configuration. I never made it public, but I kept a look out for a "good" Zon because of the light weight and 34" scale.

Very nice. That is one helluva family pic.

I have only had the opportunity to play one Zon for a brief amount of time, but I remember it being a very nice feeling bass (only got to play it unplugged).

Do they have a plugged in sound similar to a Modulus with Barts, or do they stray away from that a bit??

That is a beautiful Zon! That is a great gaggle of basses too. The only thing missing is a sweet fretless!
