    With the flick of a switch you can be either playing the bass fretted or fretless.

    Price tag $6,000.00 US or $7,000.00 Canadian.

    There's one that just arrived at a local guitar shop. I'm trying to make it there to check it out, just out of curiosity.

    I just saw a bass (a 5 or 6) where the outer strings were fretted and the middle of the fretboard was fretless.
  3. nice gimmick...

    however, since it appears that the frets do not actually make a solid connection with the fretboard, that it would sound "less than inspiring".

    for fretless...play ummmm....fretless
    and for fretted....(that's right, you got the idea ;) )
