Apologies if this has been posted already (Google and TB search did not yield anything for me).

IMG_0260.JPG That was his first blue board (old one, and probably taken when recordng 10,000 Days). He hasnt had that green Foxx pedal on his board for about 2 years. Here is what it looked like awhile ago (Aug?). He has also ditched the MXR Envelope filter.
My guess with the double wah, and what it replaced...the first wah circutry has been replaced with fuzz.

  6. So is Tool finally recording a new album?

  7. Cab on the left looks like an older Ampeg 810, perhaps?

    Hmm...

Joe has mentioned that he mic'd 5 different cabs for Adam on 10,000 Days

Yep! Drums and more than likely bass are done. Adam is now recording his parts.
So APC is touring until the middle of Dec, Maynard will probably take a couple months after that to rest his voice and start recording.

Maybe I'm wrong... or not: first time I saw them live was on Lateralus European tour (2001?). I barely remember the rig but I counted up to 7 mics on Justin's cabs. Was that possible? I tried to found a picture but googling wasn't enough to clarify my memoires. Next time I saw them (10,000 days tour circa 2006) only saw 1 mic on his cabs.

  11. What's with the 8'' lift on the guitar stand?

All that to get that invisible horrible empty 90s thin generic tone?

  13. I know that musical tastes are subjective but are you sure you're listening to the same music as I am?

Invisible, thin, and generic are three words I would never have considered for Justin Chancellor's tone.

His tone has been discussed by many to be scooped, or full of mids, amazing, or just outright awful. :rollno: The same could be said for basically every other bassist, it's just all subjective. But you do have to appreciate the work he does on the bass guitar, not just his tone. Even if it is all drowned out by the tens of effects and engineering efforts added in the final mix.

  16. Yes, many times.

Whatever blows your hair back, though.

Nah, was never impressed. It might stem from the Genesis ripoff being the first thing I ever heard from him. That's not a good introduction.

  18. Lol, okay? I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to hear how you sound

Regardless, I'm glad to see them finally working on something together again. I'm a pretty big TOOL fan and love Chancellor's sound and musicality.
I got into TOOL far before I actually started playing, so I'd never really paid much attention to his gear until fairly recently, so these types of discussions are always enlightening.
