For the record, we're pretty sure that Kay only offered German bows (called "Butler"-style in the days when Germans were less popular here); dunno who made them, but likely not Kay.

Thanks Steven, good info, I'm a newby from the BG side. Butler-style, I like it, it sounds posh.

Just fyi: Kay Double Bass Bows

I'm sure the bow at Upton will be in excellent shape. Some information here, but not much:
Kay Bows: From the earliest catalog Kay sold bows for their basses. Apparently only one bow size was available. From the 1940 catalog, "No. 10 KAY BASS BOW -- Butler Model Beautifully bent and tapered stick of Brazil wood. Plastic bow frog. Screw button inlaid with pearl dot. Blue steel screw, brass eyelet. Plated combination ferrule and slide engraved with the name Kay. Lined tip, hand polished in the natural reddish brown brazil wood finish. Price, each----$10.00" (from http://kaybass.com)
