kazaa lite users help!

I use kazaa lite, but i've never seen these features. What do they do?

Kazupernodes is a program made to let you hop supernode (wow really?)

Anyway, do you know what a supernode is?answer that then ill get back to you with more detailed information....

ok well basically when you start up kazaa and it says connecting you are connecting to a supernode, supernodes are computers on teh fasttrack network that have small lists of files. When you connect to a supernode you uploaded a small list of files available on your computer, then anyone else connected to that particular supernode can download a file from you, some supernodes, are crap....

Say you want to download an american tv program but you are in japan, youll most likely get connected to a janapese supernode, or one that is geographically closer to you, but people in japan are not gonna have very many american tv programs. So its in your best interest to get connected to an american supernode, this is where kazupsernodes come into play.

It allows you to search through all the supernodes and fine one which you think will be best for the type of file you are downloading.

I have never needed to use this and if you have the latest version of kazaa you wont really need to as the lastest version of auto search more hops supernodes for you automatically if there are not many search results.

Dont worry about the riaa, the newest kazaa has disabled 'find more from same user' ability as default so people cannot see a list of your shared files. Besides, the riaa are only after people sharing thousands of files, i have 35gb in my kazaa folder and i consider myself safe.........

And jumping supernodes is connecting to a differant supernode. Its important to remember that supernodes are NOT servers. Thats why the fasttrack network is so good its not centralised

 

Now that you know what they are I would recommend not being one. That just means more traffic being routed through your computer.

I have all of my supernode settings disabled.

 

I don't share a single damn thing. There's a button that gives you a participation level of 1000, so traffic is good. Will they kick me off because I don't share? nah. After every downloading session I sort through the shared folder and put the good stuff in other non sharing folders, then delete the rest.

Hell, once a file is on my computer I can uninstall the damn thing and keep the install file when I need it again. No more evidence against me.

I also don't do the supernode thing....I mean, why bother? it doesn't do ME any good. I know, I'm selfish, but there's a few million other people out there.

so they are 'greedy bastards', when they download a file, and share it???What does that make you? i hope you were being sarcastic....
If it wasnt for people sharing files then p2p networks wouldnt exist.
There is very little point in being a supernode unless you have a super fast connection AND a computer that is on 24/7. However I do share the pl of 1000 you talk about, kazaa has implimented software into teh network that actually slows dow these users, that why my pl is 14377 at the minute, because i share files, you can limit the amount of upload bandwidth to be used for transferring files, if your on 56k limit to 1/2k im on 512k adsl with a cap at 30k so i upload at 25k max. You dont have to share, thats why there is an option to disable it.
Its all about ethics really.........

 

I simply cancel uploads from my machine to anyone who has a rating of less than 50. If all they do is take and not give, they ain't getting anything from me.

 

but then we have people (who will go unamed) that use the cheat. If they have a rating of 50 it shows that either they have just got kazaa and their pl will decrease, or that they are sharing a little and cant upload much becaue they have a crappy connection..........

 

I have a 56k connection, so I dont share at all. I can't.


And even though I've downloaded the latest version of kazaa lite, it always errors when I try to install it? I've even tried downloading the updating several times.
