    Hi all.

Are there any exercises that one can use to get the
pinky on the fretting hand to stay down and on the neck of the bass?

    You select the string-
    1st finger @9th fret
    2nd finger @10th fret
    3rd finger @11th fret
    4th finger @12th fret

Keep ALL the fingers down on the string.
Move ONLY the Index finger Up/Down...ONLY the Index finger moves; if the others want to follow, use your other hand to hold them down.
Next, move ONLY the Middle finger Up/Down...everything else stays stationary.
Next, move ONLY the Ring finger.
Finally, exercise the Pinky...Up/Down, Up/Down, etc.

This is simple & can be frustrating. Stay with it, you should see decent reasults in a week or so.

Just practice patterns that requre you to use all four fingers on your left hand. I'm sure there's some stickied around here somewhere, if not lemme know and I'll give you some.
